Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Virunga national park.

Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport optional from the Hotel if you are already in the county. Possibly you will have a short Kigali city because it is relatively small and all the prominent places are mostly accessible. During your city tour, you will visit the genocide memorial sites, Kandt Museum house, main city market, and craft shops. You will then proceed to exit Kigali town to Goma border via the beautiful views of the countryside, you have lunch en-route in lake Kivu and later to the Migration office for clearing, remember to have your covid results, yellow fever card, passport, and already processed entry Visa. Once you cross the border you will drive straight to your Lodge in Virunga National Park for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Hiking Nyirangongo

You are required to wake up and have your early morning breakfast, prepare and pack all the necessary basics you will need at the summit. Drive to Kibati village and you will be handed over to the park team as you wait for briefing and registration. You will meet many other hikers at the starting point. At this point, you should consider hiring a porter in case you need one to carry your luggage and a hand where the hike gets strenuous.

The time duration for hiking to reach the summit depends on the speed of the group, there you need practice before in case you are not an avid hiker. As you head towards the volcano, you will notice that the lower slopes are full of lush green rainforest which are home is home to small primates, mammals, birds, expect to see some such as chimpanzees, monkeys. Also, you will begin to notice changes in vegetation cover as there is less vegetation. 3 Days Hike Nyirangongo, Much of the vegetation is usually destroyed when the volcanic mountain erupts. Day 3: Descend the Nyirangongo volcano and Departure.

Wake up early for a quick cup breakfast and by 8 am you Descend the Volcano Mountain. You will now have views of the surrounding Virunga ranges, Lake Kivu, Rwenzori mountains, Kahunzi Beige National Park among others. Once you reach the base, you will be transferred to the Congo Rwanda border crossing. Check in at Migration again pay you for your entry visa into Rwanda and start off your Journey to Kigali city. Optional city tour if you missed on day one. Drop off at the Hotel or airport for departure. End of Hike

DAY BY DAY DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1

Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Meet up with your safari guide after an early cup of coffee at your Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe and transfer to 3 Days Murchison Falls national park, the drive is about 7 – 8 hours including stop overs. Along the way, you will stop over for breakfast at diners, then proceed for Rhino tracking at Zziwa Rhino sanctuary in Nakasongola. Presently its home to over 30 rhinos and most probably you will be able to spot half of them on a guided trek with the rangers. It’s also home to mammal species such bushbucks and duikers, not forgetting several bird species. Trek back to the starting point and have lunch at Amuka later proceed to Murchison falls national park reaching in the evening check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2

Murchison Falls National Park – Early Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise – Hike To The Top Of The Falls – Optional Night Game Drive

Wake up early and have break fast then morning boat ride to the Delta, where you have a chance to spot the rare shoe bill stork, other birds include goliath heron, Egyptian geese, pelican, kingfishers, saddle-bill stork among others. You will meet up with your guide and go for a game drive and here with luck you will be able to spot Leopards, hyenas, lions, oribis, bushbucks, giraffes, cape buffalo, Bohor reedbuck, sitatungas, bush bucks, bush pigs, warthogs duikers among others. Return to the lodge for lunch, refresh and then afternoon boat ride to the bottom of the falls. Along here you get close to school of hippos, crocodiles, as well as more birds at Nyamusika cliff. Get close to the bottom of the falls and have a clear view of the thunderous falls as they drop 7 meters high from a narrow gorge. You can either hike to the top of the falls or Back to the lodge on a boat experiencing an evening sun downer that gives a thrilling feeling of a Ugandan safari. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Murchison Falls National Park – Early Morning Game Drive – (Optional Chimpanzee Tracking) – Drive Back To Entebbe International Airport

Begin the day with an early breakfast, followed by a final morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. The cooler morning hours provide excellent opportunities to spot wildlife while it is still active. Explore the northern savannah plains in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, hartebeests, warthogs, oribis, and, with some luck, leopards and other predators.

After the game drive, you may choose to include an optional chimpanzee tracking experience in the greater Murchison Falls conservation area, subject to permit availability and your flight schedule. Accompanied by experienced forest guides, you will walk through tropical woodland while searching for habituated chimpanzees and learning about the forest’s other primates, birds, plants, and ecosystems.

After the morning activities, begin the drive back toward Entebbe International Airport, with a lunch stop along the way. The journey takes you through Uganda’s changing countryside, rural communities, farms, and small trading centres.

Upon arrival in Entebbe, your driver-guide will transfer you directly to Entebbe International Airport in good time for your scheduled departure flight, marking the end of your memorable Uganda safari.
