The 3 day Uganda Gorilla safari, will take you to Bwindi Forest Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking. The Park is an old block forest lasting over 25000 years covering a vast area of 333 sq km. While in Bwindi you will be able to trek and see one of the habituated gorilla family among other 20 habituated gorilla families at different tracking sectors either Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija or Nkuringo.

Beyond the Gorillas, you will also have a chance to spot some of the bird species out of 350 bird species in Bwindi, notable ones are Turacos, hornbills. Primates such as colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, black and white monkeys, baboons, mammal species such as Forest elephants, bush pigs, duikers etc. There are also reptiles such as horned chameleons, as well as163 tree species, 104 fern species, 1000 flowering plants.

Gorilla trekking involves a long walk into the rain forest in search of the allocated gorilla family, usually it takes about 2 to 7 hours depending on how far the gorillas have moved. The whole experience involves moving trekking thorough the steep slopes and lush vegetation until you find the gorillas.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will be picked up by our safari guide from the airport/ hotel in Entebbe/Kampala/Kigali after early morning breakfast at 07:00hrs. Then be briefed about the 3-day Gorilla safari before you start on your journey to the mighty Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in southwestern Uganda. Along the way is a scenic drive of local towns and stopovers at the Equator for amazing experiences, take photographs as well buy local handmade crafted souvenirs. Thereafter, proceed on your journey to Bwindi, you will arrive late afternoon. Check-in at the lodge, relax and have dinner in the evening.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking- Bwindi Forest

Have an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for briefing by the park rangers at 7:00 am. The briefing includes dos and don’ts while in the park, you will also be divided into groups of 8 individuals thereafter be allocated a gorilla family to track. Thereafter you will be led to the forest by the rangers for your gorilla trekking experience.

Gorilla trekking is an amazing memorable experience watching the Mountain gorillas go about their day, play around and also do their day-to-day activities. This excursion takes 2 hours or even up to 8 hours depending on the location and movement of the gorillas. At this point you are required to be physically fit because you are to walk long distances amidst steep slopes, water falls, muddy landslides that require a walking stick for support. On finding the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them as you take photos as well as observing their behavioral characters in their natural setting.

Return back to the starting point and you will be awarded a certificate of participation and later to the lodge and in the evening, you may choose to relax at the lodge or visit the Batwa community which will expose you to their culture through storytelling, live dance an exhibition of how they survived in the forest before eviction. Dinner and overnight stay back at the lodge.

Day 3: Departure back to Kampala

Have an early breakfast, Check-out and transfer back to Kampala, along the way you will be able to have morning clear views of the misty Bwindi driving though the terraced gardens of Kabale and Kisoro respectively. Enjoy the views of the lush green vegetation cover. Have lunch in Mbarara and proceed to Kampala. Your safari guide will drop you off to the hotel or at the airport to catch your flight back home.
