9 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari

Our 9 days primate & Wildlife safari includes some of the destination that creates along with lasting memory. You will have a close encounter with the famous mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest national park, chimpanzees and other 13 primate species in kibale forest national park, game drive and viewing in Queen Elizabeth national park and Lake Mburo national park where you will be able to spot various mammal species, canoeing and nature walk on lake Bunyonyi among others.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival you will be picked by your driver guide who will later transfer you to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay

Accommodation options; Entebbe Botanical Beach Hotel, 2 Friends, Marriot (up market)

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest national park

Early morning after breakfast, you will fully start your 9 Days primates & wildlife heading to Kibale forest national park, a home to 13 primate species, common ones are the chimpanzees. Kibale forest is a 5-hour scenic drive through Fort portal town, the tourism city. You will have scenic views of the tea plantation, Rwenzori ranges and the overall green vegetation cover. You will have lunch enroute in Fort portal town and once you reach the park, refresh and go for evening guided nature walk around Bigodi wetland swamp, here you are able to see birds, mammal species such as bush bucks and duikers. Return to the lodge for dinner and night rest.

Day 3:  Full day chimpanzee habituation experience

Wake up early and prepare for a full day with chimpanzees, have breakfast and don’t forget your packed lunch, enough drinking water and off to the park headquarters for briefing. You will then be led by the ranger guides into the forest in search of the chimpanzees for this experience. Chimpanzee habituation is a full-day experience in the wild with the chimpanzees going through the process with which researchers, ranger guides going through to tame wild chimpanzees be accustomed to human presence. Along with this experience, you will also be able to spot some of the mammal species with in the forests such as forest elephants, buffalos, duikers, bushbucks, other primates like olive baboons, blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabeys, owl-faced monkeys among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

on this day you will embark on the road for a 4-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth national park after breakfast. This Park was renamed in 1952 after the Queen Elizabeth’s visit and since then it is one of the most visited and diverse eco system in nature. Within the park there several crate lakes, forests, swamps, wildlife species, primates to mention but a few. Along you will do 2-hour crater lake drive, reach the park and have lunch at the lodge then at 4pm go for an evening boat ride at kazinga channel, here you will be able to see school of hippos at an up-close range, crocodiles, elephants, buffalos, bush bucks at the banks of the river, later you will have an evening game drive through the park back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation options; Mweya safari lodge/ elephant plains/ crater safari lodge/Katara lodge/ Kyambura lodge (upmarket / deluxe)

Day 5: Morning Game drive & community walk

Wake up so early and this time for 6 am game drive along Kasenyi track. This game drive is more rewarding because you have chances to spot lions, leopards, hyenas before they into their hideout. Expect to see elephants, warthogs, Defassa Waterbuck, elands, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Cape buffaloes, black and white Colobus. This game drive extends to the shores of lake Edward and kasenyi fishing village where you will spot waterbird species such as black bee-eater, broad billed roller, African fish eagle and Cassin’s grey flycatcher. Go back to the lodge refresh, have lunch and in the afternoon, you will visit lake katwe salt mines, Nyakikogoro women’s group, all these include communities with in park. Return to the lodge, for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park

Have breakfast and check out of the lodge, this time driving through Ishasha, southern sector of Bwindi. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is home to the gentle giants who share 97% with human beings, some of their behavioral characteristics emulate those of a human being. Ishasha is known for the tree-climbing lions, with luck you will be able to spot them resting up in the fig tree, a game drive through you will also spot more mammal species such as elephants, buffalos, elands, kobs. You will have lunch en-route and proceed to Bwindi reaching in the evening, check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Day 7: Gorilla Trekking Experience & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Wake up for an early morning breakfast, prepare all you need for this experience such as good hiking boots, a light rain jacket/coat, putting on the right clothing, and head to the park quarters for briefing. Remember to have your packed lunch and enough drinking water. You will be briefed about the dos and don’ts and later led to the starting point by the ranger guides in into the misty Bwindi with rugged terrain, trekking through steep slopes in search of the gorillas. When you finally find them, utilize the one hour given time to take pictures, observe and later go trek back to the starting point. After the trekking transfer to beautiful Lake Bunyonyi through cultivated hills, take a boat ride from Insheshero to the other side of the lake as you tour 29 islands among them are punishment island, governor island. 9 Days primates & wildlife, Check-in at the lodge, and in the evening, you will have an evening walk up the hills to have a clear aerial view of the beautiful Bunyonyi as you spot a few birds around.

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Early morning you will have breakfast and back on the road to for about 5-6 hour’s drive to lake Mburo national park known for its distinctive features such as a large concentration of zebras and antelope species. You will have lunch enroute in Mbarara and proceed to the park for afternoon game drive, you will not miss out to spot Ankole long horned cows, zebras, impalas, Uganda kobs, giraffes among many others. Check in at the lodge, refresh for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9- Transfer to Kampala

Have morning breakfast and later a boat ride on Lake Mburo, mind you there are other 13 small lakes within the park. While on the boat ride you will see more hippos, crocodiles, bushbucks, waterbucks, and several waterbird species after this activity drive through the park and back on the road to Kampala. You will have a lunch en-route and a quick stopover at the equator for photography and experiments reaching Kampala in the evening. Drop off at the hotel or airport for departure if on schedule.
